Plan Your Taste Test Field Trip Today

Are your teachers looking for a creative career exploration field trip for students in grades 4-12? Or a fun way to teach them about nutrition and their school meals? Or are your families, board members or staff interested in the meals you serve? Bring them to CKC Good Food!

We'd love to host your group at our Eagan facility for an educational and delicious field trip. Guests can tour our building, see how our team prepares thousands of meals every day and interact with our chefs and prep team. After the tour, we bring out the food!

The day will entail:

  1. A 20-30 minute tour of our production facility.
  2. A review of the USDA regulations for federal meal programs.
  3. A discussion of the guests' favorite and least favorite menu selections.
  4. Taste testing. There will be at least three main entrées as well as vegetable, fruit, dessert and bottled water - enough for a full lunch. Participants will be asked in advance what meal they'd like added to our menus. If one of the requested items can be created to meet USDA guidelines, we will feature that item as part of the taste testing.
  5. A short survey on school meals and the sample entrees for guests.
  6. Additional Q&A time.

We're currently scheduling groups for visits between March 19 and May 23. Details:

  • Group size: 12-24 people
  • Ages: grades 4 and above
  • Time: 11 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
  • Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Tips for a successful educational tasting:

  1. Gather a group of students, parents, board members and staff who have shared ideas or wishes related to your food service.
  2. Provide your group with the information on the USDA's National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program and/or Child and Adult Care Food Program we will send you ahead of your visit.
  3. Ask those who will be attending to circle their 3 favorite and 3 least favorite meals on your current menu.
  4. Among your group, ask for three suggested main entrées or vegetable sides they would like to see on your menu.
