Produce Update: Romaine

The Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration have issued a safety advisory about romaine lettuce following the outbreak of e.coli traced back to romaine heads and hearts and processed romaine originating in Yuma, Arizona. The advisory does not technically apply to all romaine - just that from Yuma. CKC's distributor, Upper Lakes Foods, currently sources all its romaine from California, which is not affected by the advisory.

CKC Good Food takes food safety very seriously and strictly follows HACCP procedures from the time we take delivery of ingredients through preparation and delivery to our schools. If there is ever any doubt about the integrity of an ingredient food or prepared meal, rest assured we will not provide it for service.
