Annual training prepped schools for 2018-2019

CKC Good Food hosted two sessions of annual training to help food service staff from 20 schools and child care centers prepare for the 2018-2019 school year. The informal workshop gave the attendees an opportunity to get their specific questions answered while learning about:

  • CKC's role in HACCP procedures
  • How to earn annual hours of continuing education/training hours for USDA Professional Standards requirements
  • CKC's process to monitor and track each case of USDA commodity product that was surveyed and delivered to CKC. Our client schools are reimbursed for 100% of product delivered.
  • The role of the client schools versus CKC in providing off-site forms to MDE to support an Administrative Review.

Now, answers to many questions that arise are at your fingertips. Of course, you can always still call us with your questions. Schools not represented at the training sessions will receive their binders from their Field Operations Manager prior to fall.

The attendees sampled some of the new menu entrees that will be featured this fall, including queso meatball nachos and curry chickpea pasta, a vegetarian option that wil be available every Wednesday. (Rather than "Meatless Monday," we will have Meatless Wednesday.) We will be offering several choices in menu rotations starting in the fall. We encourage all our client schools to use multiple rotations throughout the year to avoid menu fatigue and hold students' interest.
